Living for Under 10 000$ a Year - Fail

So in 2014 I set out to see if I could live for less than 10 000$ a year, a sum of money that I can assure you sounds completely insane to any adult you'll ever meet.

So I counted money for about half the year, then moved and mostly stopped caring about this website. So it put a damper on this... I was up to about 6000-6500 by mid-year, which means I did go way over, most likely. Anyway, I had made a list of things I wanted to try and do, let's see if I did any of them!

- Start counting all my spending again for one year Did it half the year. Then deleted the .txt file..

- Find my credit rating. Because I don't know what it is.Still no idea. I did raise my credit limit and got another card so..can't be too bad

- Get wise about tax laws to see if I qualify for anything.I do not

- Sell /get rid of everything I don't want or need anymore.Done. I love throwing things away. My favourite thing.

- Budget food. This includes retooling my diet to eat the cheapest yet healthiest things. don't even know what that means.

- Make a list of all the foods I eat regularly and find out what they cost at different nearby grocery stores. As it turns out there's always a cheapest store for everything and it's going to be some version of Wal Mart or Costco.

- Read about investing and tax law where I live.Done and done

- Read about owning a house/condo and plan to. Time to start paying rent to myself!Not quite there yet in my life...

- Optimize cellphone/ internet bills. Got rid of my cellphone plan. Genius. What a waste of money.

- Check if bank is charging me hidden managment fees on my investments.They weren't

- Look for freelance work. If I'm going to waste time, might as well see if I can waste it making money!Didn't even try. Sad.

- Get a credit card that rewards me with sweet sweet cashback and rewards. I GOT TWO! The amazon card is 2% on everything you get there. Awesome.

- Try to buy nothing new. The more a thing costs, the less likely I am to buy it new. But I mean, at some point...

- Try to fix broken things myself. I suck at it so much. I hate it.

Anyway...

I might come back to that later. Now that I live with a girlfriend, it cuts down spending on rent and utilities.
