YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TROLLING MEANS: A FLOWCHART

In recent years it's become obvious that people on the internet have NO FUCKING CLUE what trolling is. The usage of that word has become so common that it's applied to every single thing that isn't a direct and sincere compliment to the person using it. Just got called a dumbass on the internet? Wow can't possibly be the true opinion of anyone, this must be some prankster trying to get a rise out of you! But you're the better person and instead of engaging this TROLL!!111 it's much better to shut down any diverging opinion instantly by dismissing it all as a big joke. Congratulation, you megalomaniacal paranoid schizophrenic.

This is the definition of trolling:

Trolling: Trying to piss people off on the internet by supporting extreme views and opinions which you do not actually hold to be true..

The word "trolling" comes from fishing. It is the act of dangling a line with bait behind your boat in the hopes that fish will bite.

Notice the lack of a green monster living under a bridge and/or a basement virgin's sexual fantasy..

Fish are by their nature stupid so that means a troll should be fairly obvious to any smart person. Trolling is also a long process during which you dangle a line for an extended period trying to catch as many fish as you can. Similarly you do no want to catch every fish, only a select few kinds. That is why a troll who cannot possibly fail to fool everyone is not a troll but just a dumbass. If there is no way for any rational person to know you're trolling, then you have failed just the same as making jokes no one ever laughs at.

Since fucking with people is an ageless tradition, the word "trolling" is redundant and mostly an internet plague. It's a dumbass's way of pointing out that they think something is not serious, but using jargon which they perceive as trendy and insightful. It is the same as saying everything is "Epic", "Fail" or "Leet" ( The "epic" of 2003).

Here is a short list of things people think are trolling that aren't:

- Insults
- Pranks
- Jokes
- Practical jokes
- Disagreement
- Arguments
- Ignorance
- Stupidity
- Hoax
- Cons
- Magic tricks
- Diverging opinions
- Something that annoys you

The number of people who are genuine trolls is extremely small and as such the number of times someone cries "troll" is inversely proportional to their intelligence. Not only do idiots not even know the definition of trolling but they would be too inept to reckognize one should they encounter one. However they have learned that uncovering trolls is a sign of mental sharpness and as such they will attemtp to call them out at every turn to appear intelligent.

So remember: Just to be safe, STOP USING THAT FUCKING WORD and remember that the number one thing a troll wants is attention, so if you suspect one, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD JUST IGNORE THEM INSTEAD OF POLLUTING THE INTERENET WITH YOUR IDIOTIC TROLL CALLS.
